The Van Rensselaer Lower Manor House
Built from 1685 through 1715, this unique and important property has been under continuous ownership in the Van Rensselaer & Barnard Family. From the first Patroon, Hendrick Van Rensselaer, to the current owners, the house has been carefully cared for and retains many fine period details rarely seen outside museums or history books. 18th century exterior shutters, original doors and hardware, finely carved mantels and paneling, and even the hand-wrought rose-head nails firmly holding the incredibly wide board floors remain unmoved from the day they were laid. A sunny kitchen wing was added and part of the rear section of the house has been converted to a three-bedroom rental unit.
This is a comfortable and very livable house built to last another 300 years. An early barn with massive hewn beams flanks the rear of the acre-plus property located 10 minutes from Hudson and Amtrak.
60 additional acres available.
